Solomon Airlines Launches 2024-2028 Strategic Plan
SOLOMON Airlines on Friday 19 January released details of the airline’s new four-year Strategic Plan setting a clear path for the National Carrier based on Seven Strategic Goals.
Representatives of Government, the corporate sector and aviation and travel industries attended the launch and briefing by Solomon Airlines Chairman Mr Frank Wickham at the Heritage Park Hotel, Honiara.
“With the input and support of our key stakeholders, we have set a clear trajectory for Solomon Airlines future,” Mr Wickham said.
“We extend our gratitude to the Solomon Islands Government and all stakeholders who actively participated in Solomon Airlines Strategic Planning process, contributing their invaluable insights and support.
“Among them are the World Bank SIRAP Project, IOS Partners, Investment Corporation of Solomon Islands and Solomon Airlines Board and management.
“We now commence 2024 with confidence and a clear direction to forge ahead with the transformation of Solomon Airlines into a new era,” Mr Wickham said.
“Already, we are proud to have achieved significant progress in 2023 completing key projects which support our future plans,” he said.
Mr Wickham said that during 2023, Solomon Airlines had taken delivery of a second Airbus A320 international aircraft, an important investment in further expansion of international routes.
During 2023 the national carrier also completed its transfer into the new Honiara International Airport Terminal, reopened its modern new Belama Lounge, and relaunched the airline’s Belama Club Loyalty program. Solomon Airlines flight attendant uniforms were also elevated with smart new components.
Mr Wickham said the airline’s marketing activity had helped to maximise global profile for Solomon Islands via the 17th South Pacific Games, creating greater awareness of the national carrier and tourism and travel opportunities.
“Our expanded partnership with Air Vanuatu is also very important, supporting the Vanuatu national carrier’s fleet requirements and via our connected networks, effectively re-engaging Solomon Airlines re-entry to the New Zealand market,” he said.
“On 6 January Solomon Airlines also recommenced flights from Brisbane direct to the new Munda International Airport, opening a second international gateway for Solomon Islands,” Mr Wickham added.
“All of these advancements – and more to come, contribute to Solomon Airlines transformation as the Pacific’s best emerging airline.
“This is our Vision and one we take very seriously. It lies at the heart of our strategy and efforts moving forward,” he said.
