MISS Solomon Islands Pageant (MSIP) 2024 contestants, Miss Tourism Kerrie Faradatolo and Miss Tulagi Jayn Zayniellar Soakai, were honored to be part of the annual WWII Tulagi Cruise, marking the 82nd Anniversary of the Battle of Guadalcanal Tours.
Held yesterday at Tulagi, the provincial capital of Central Islands Province, this historical town and former capital of the Solomon Islands provided a moving setting for the event. A short anniversary ceremony at Blue Beach allowed tour groups to pay respects to those who served during the war. Tulagi, rich with WWII sites, attracted history enthusiasts, including guests whose fathers had served in the Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942-1943.
Miss Tourism Kerrie Faradatolo expressed gratitude to the tour groups: Valors Tours USA, US National Museum Tours, Bulls Tour Australia, Go Tours, Tourism Students from Solomon Islands National University, and Tourism Solomons for their participation in the Tulagi cruise.
She also extended her thanks to Miss Tulagi and the community of Tulagi for their warm cultural welcome. “The guests and I truly appreciated your hospitality,” said Miss Faradatolo.
“Special thanks also to the Central Islands Premier and your government. We hope to see the tourism industry flourish with more visitors in the many years to come,” she added.
The event emphasizes the historical significance of Tulagi and the Solomon Islands as a rich cultural and historical tourist destination.
