PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogavare, says the key to boosting the Solomon Islands’ tourism industry is infrastructure development.

“To unlock the tourism potential of the country, infrastructure development is a must.

“The tourism industry cannot operate alone but also rely on other important services such as the airlines, shipping, taxi services, and small boat operators which move our visitors around.

“And, if one of these transport systems fails, and a visitor is stranded, then the whole system will be affected,’’ said the Honourable Prime Minister at the ‘Tourism in Focus 2023 Summit’ at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara, February 9, 2023.

Honourable Sogavare said that the challenge that the Solomon Islands have been facing for so many years while making its best to drive its tourism aspirations is on investment in infrastructure development.

“The challenge that we have as we all know is the lack of infrastructure in our provinces. This is where all our natural attraction sites are located,” the Prime Minister said.
