Solomon Power’s Successful Participation in the Iumi Tugeda Marathon
SOLOMON Power was delighted to be part of the 2021 Iumi Tugeda Fly Solomons Peace Marathon on Saturday 24th October 2021. Running for Solomon Power were 15 of Selwyn College’s top long distance runners as well as 20 Solomon Power staff. The runners took part in the 2km, 5km, 10km and 20.1km races. Two of the Solomon Power sponsored runners were in the top 3 of 10km Women’s Category race. Thirteen year-old Monica Toada, was the winner of the 10km Women’s Category while team mate Merilita Sade, 13 years old, came third. As part of the organization’s corporate social responsibility Solomon Power was happy to be a bronze sponsor for the 2021 IUMI TUGEDA FLY SOLOMONS PEACE MARATHON in support of the ongoing ‘Iumi Tugeda’ campaign, a five-point plan intended to rekindle and sustain the Solomon Islands tourism sector’s fortune as it adapts to the new COVID-19 environment. Furthermore, it is also supports potential marathon athletes, particularly these 15 Selwyn College students. Their participation and exposure in the half-marathon event would contribute towards enhancing their athleticism and provide an enriching experience to be potential Team Solomon athletes in the upcoming Pacific Games.
Solomon Power would like to thank Selwyn College Management for allowing the 15 athletes to participate in the event. The young athletes did very well. Solomon Power wishes them well in future events. Solomon Power wants to sincerely acknowledge our employees who participated in the event and the volunteers who provided the support services required for the event.
