Community president Moses Maetabu said that this is the first biggest celebration that the community is involved in.
“We follow what the ministry of tourism told us, so for the last two weeks we do clean-ups at the three monuments.” And also we installed a security house to man the place, 24 hours, seven days a week.
“Now we are practising custom dances for girls and boys, warrior groups, custom groups involving youths and children.
“We will do decoration of the monument area on the 7th, on war buildings, and clean up the creek here significant to the US marines.”
“125 people in our community are actively involved in the preparation for the celebrations.”
“For community security, I trained 135 people since last week in a workshop which I separate into two groups.”
He explained that the workshop focused on community policing, by-laws, and security protocols, and the training will complete on Friday.
“Upon completing the training, participants will receive a certificate the following week.
“We are working on improving Bloody ridge into a tourism site, with landscaping, custom house and fencing.”
