Solomon Islands Wan Squad Takes Third Place at International Dance Competition in Australia

THE all-male hip-hop dance crew Lego Squad from Honiara, Solomon Islands, has made history by securing third place in their international debut at the House of Champions dance competition in Brisbane, Australia, on October 19.

After hours of intense performances, the crew took to social media to express their gratitude to fans, sponsors, and supporters who made their journey possible.

“To the incredible team that has made this journey possible—we did it! After countless hours of practice, blood, sweat, and tears, we came and showed our passion on an international stage,” they shared in a post on social media.

Lego Squad also scooped the ‘Crowd Favourite Award 2024’ on the stage over the weekend. 

They noted the importance of community support and thanked the Honiara City Council (HCC) Youth Division and TokSpot for providing them with practice space and resources.

They also extended their gratitude to Solomon Airlines and Michael Leong Pacific Crown Hotel for their generous contributions.

“Your belief in us has fuelled our fire.”

The crew’s performance was met with support from the Solomon Islands community and family in Brisbane.

“The crowd went wild!” they posted, highlighting the excitement and energy of the event.

Lego Squad also recognized the invaluable support from the Ministry of Women, Youth, and Children & Family Affairs, acknowledging how community and collaboration play vital roles in their success.

The crew not only celebrates their outstanding success but also raises the profile of the Solomon Islands on the global stage, inspiring future generations of dancers and artists in the country.
