A delegation from the Approved Employers Association (AEA) of Australia experienced the culture, traditions and hospitality of the Sikaiana people during a visit to Red Beach Sikaiana Cultural Village, northeast of Guadalcanal, this morning.
The visit gave the delegation an opportunity to learn about the island community’s traditional way of life and enjoy its cultural and natural attractions.
Sikaiana Cultural Village tour guide Erick Tevaiola welcomed the visitors and expressed his happiness at sharing the community’s heritage with them.

“We are very honored for you to be here among us today to showcase our culture and traditions of Sikaiana,” he said.

Mr Tevaiola guided the delegation around the village, explaining traditional practices and ways of life that have been passed down through generations.
The visitors also experienced traditional food preparation and watched cultural dancing, giving them a closer look at the customs and identity of the Sikaiana people.
After learning about the village’s cultural heritage, the delegation enjoyed swimming in the sea, adding a relaxing outdoor experience to their visit.
The visit highlighted the value of cultural exchange in bringing people from different communities together and helping visitors appreciate local traditions.

The Australian employers are in Honiara to attend the inaugural Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Approved Employers Expo, which runs from October 20 to 23, 2026.
The event begins at the Aquatic Centre at the National Stadium in East Honiara and brings together Australian employers.
The visit to Sikaiana Cultural Village offered the delegation a chance to experience Solomon Islands culture beyond the workplace and learn more about the people and communities connected to the country.
