SOLOMONS very owned boy band Doorman’s Projects (DMP) has made a breakthrough in the international music scene as the first Solomon Islands artists to be named in the top 3 of one of the World’s largest music online competition – Djooky.
Launched last year, the Djooky Music Awards (DMA), was designed to nurture the musical talent of songwriters on all levels and promote global excellence.
The contest involves the National Voting Round which will take place to find the top three Entries of each country who will qualify for the Continental Voting Round.
The top three Entries from each continent which includes North America, Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and Oceania will compete for the main prize in the Global Voting Round, and thereafter winners will be announced.
DMP – ‘Wine Up’ went through the Oceania Continental Voting Round finishing in the top 3 to book a place among the Top 18 Finalists of the world’s largest online music competition.
The band came in second in the Global Voting Round and was named the best Reggae Artist while Mossa with his song – Kanigho booked the third place in the Global Voting Round and he scooped the award for the best ‘Afrobeat’ genre.
According to a Djooky statement on its website, the winner of Djooky Music Awards will have the choice of either a trip to record one song at the iconic Capitol Studios (LA, USA), with Brian Malouf, the multi-platinum American producer, and his engineer team, or a $20,000 cash prize.
The trip will include round trip plane tickets for two people, hotel accommodation, and a daily allowance covering ground transportation and meals during the trip. Meanwhile, Cash prizes will also be awarded to the following winners: Second place – $5,000, Third place – $2,000, Top song in each genre – $1,000.
DMP band Manager and Promoter, Victor Lopez told Sunday Isles News that the boys deserve to be known around the world for the impact they have made in the Pacific, and he won’t stop till they are at the top.
“My message to fans in the Solomons is to continue supporting your local artists, streaming their music on Apple Music or Spotify, sharing their links on social media is the most simplistic and effective way to show support.
“We will be entering the ‘Djooky Music Awards’ next season in 3 months and if the nation gets behind these boys, Solomon Islands will come first in the competition. Support is the key to success,” Lopez said.
He further revealed to Sunday Isles that they have recently signed with the biggest independent reggae label ‘ineffable records’ and are due to release their first single from the new album.
“We have 80% of the album completed with collaborations like ‘Anthony B, Iyaz, Da’Ville, Collie Buddz & Konshens.
“Ineffable Records just released the ‘Cali Roots Riddim 2021’ project which includes our new single ‘Everybody Waiting’ produced by Collie Buddz & Johnny Cosmic from Stick Figure,” DMP band Manager, Victor Lopez said.
