MCT Commends Tourism Operators for Completing 5-Days Digital Content Creation Training in Honiara

04/08/2026 – Honiara, Solomon Islands: The Tourism Division under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism congratulated around 30 tourism operators, who successfully completed a five-day Digital Content Creation training, which concluded on Friday 31st July, at the National Art Gallery, in Honiara.

The training was funded through the E-Commerce Implementation Unit (E-CIU) under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI), in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) & Tourism Solomons (TS), and delivered by the Kev Daily Photography and Videography group.

The aimed of the training is to equip operators with digital content creation skills, which covered photography, videography, content creation and digital storytelling, to help them develop high quality photos and videos to promote their tourism products and services effectively.

Participants attended the training represented a range of tourism businesses in Honiara, including accommodation providers, arts and crafts and other tourism operators.

Speaking at the closing of the training, Director of E-Commerce Implementation Unit under MCILC, Mr. Richard Nokia said, the training reflected the strong partnership and commitment between E-CIU and MCT to support tourism operators embrace digital tools and capitalise on opportunities within the digital economy.

“Today, tourism no longer promoted only through brochures and advertisements. The world discovers destinations through photos, videos, social media and online content.

“Every image you capture and every story you share has the potential to inspire someone to visit Solomon Islands,” he said.

Director of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Gregory Auta’a said the training was more than simply learning to take better photographs or managing social media platforms.

It’s about building practical skills to tell stories effectively, showcase destinations with confidence and strengthen the tourism industry through creative in-store marketing.

“Stories have always been at the heart of tourism, and today, digital platforms allow us to share those stories with audiences across the world,” he said.

Auta’a said the Ministry of Culture and Tourism believes that digital content creators play a vital role in promoting sustainable tourism, supporting local businesses, preserving cultural heritage, and creating economic opportunities for the communities.

Mr. Nokia and Mr. Auta’a acknowledged all partners and stakeholders, who contributed to the success of the training, and encouraged participants to apply the newly acquired skills to help promote and strengthen tourism industry in Solomon Islands.
