MCT Acknowledges Australian Gov’t and Travel Solomons for Supporting Tourism Operators in CIP with Invaluable Tourism Training
Honiara, Solomon Islands – 30/07/2026: The Ministry of Culture and Tourism acknowledges the Australian government through the Strongim Bisnis program for supporting a Professional Tour Guide training for tourism operators from Central Islands province.
The three-days training, delivered by Travel Solomons from 14th-16 July, at the Pagoda Conference Room in East Honiara, was made possible through a partnership between the tourism operators and the Strongim Bisnis program.
A total of six (6) tourism tours and accommodation operators had benefitted from the training, which aimed to strengthen their professional guiding skills and equip them to become trainers of trainees in their respective businesses.
The training covered a range of key topics, including;
- Tour guides important guidelines with high standard of a professional guide,
- First aid and operational safety,
- Important tools needed for a tour company
- And setting new products in their areas of location.
Director of Tourism Division under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr Gregory Auta’a commended the six tourism operators for completing the training.
“Your commitment to enhancing your knowledge and skills demonstrates your dedication to delivering high-quality visitor experiences and strengthening the tourism industry in your province,” he said.
He told the participants that the knowledge gained from professional guiding standards and visitor safety to product development and essential tour operation, will not only improve the quality of tourism services, but empower participants to become trainers within their own businesses, creating a lasting impact across Central Islands province.
“As tourism sector continues to recover and grow, investing in our people remains one of our highest priorities. Professional, knowledgeable, and confident tour guides are ambassadors for the Solomon Islands, and they play a vital role in showcasing our unique culture, heritage, and natural attractions to the world.
“I encourage all participants to put their new skills into practice, continue learning, and work together to develop innovative tourism experiences that will benefit your communities and contribute to the sustainable growth of our tourism industry,” Auta’a said.
Director Auta’a and Travel Solomons thanked the Australian government through Strongim Bisnis for seeing the need to fund the training to elevate operators in their tour businesses. They also urged participants to continue work to improving their tour offerings and professional guide and tour business.
Auta’a also thanked Travel Solomons for delivering a comprehensive and practical program. Emphasizing that this partnership between Australia through Strongim Bisnis, SIG through MCT and Travel Solomons reflects the importance of collaboration in building a resilient and professional tourism sector.
