THE Australian High Commission Solomon Islands is proud to announce the launch of Pacific Break by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

The Pacific’s biggest music competition is now open for entries and the search for the best original and unsigned talent from the Pacific and Timor-Leste has begun.

Entries are open until midnight 2 November and the winner will be announced on ABC Radio Australia morning show Nesia Daily on Thursday 9 November. The winning group or individual will be flown to Australia with all-expenses-paid to perform at Australia’s largest international music festival WOMADelaide in March 2024.

For the next six weeks, artists will also have their submitted music and videos featured on ABC Radio Australia, ABC Australia programs and across ABC Pacific digital and social accounts.

Last year’s winner, Papua New Guinea (PNG) artist Danielle, made history as the first female winner of Pacific Break and went on to be named Papua New Guinea’s female artist of the year. Other past winners include Sprigga Mek (PNG), Emmanuel Mailau (PNG), III Kings (Solomon Islands), BSQ (Fiji) and Jaik Berg (Cook Islands).

This year’s winner will be decided by a judging panel made up of PNG-born Australian artist Ngaiire and ABC Radio Australia music hosts Hau Latukefu (In The Fale), Sose Fuamoli (On The Record), Rick Howe (Island Music) and WOMADelaide Associate Director Annette Tripodi.

Do you have what it takes to be the Pacific’s next breakout artist?
