Guadalcanal Province Premier Hon Willie Atu believes the Turtle Bay International Resort is an important tourism project for Guadalcanal Province.
He said this during the groundbreaking ceremony last week at Turtle Beach in Northwest Guadalcanal.
He said the project will help people show their culture to visitors from around the world.
“It is very unique, and we would like to share it with the world, and at this moment, I would like to say that this is a good platform for us,” he said.
The Premier said tourism is a top priority for the government in Guadalcanal Province.
“And I believe that this new development will attract Honiara to this side of town,” he said.
The Premier also spoke about jobs that the resort will create for local people.
“I believe that many people will be employed, especially people around here in Guadalcanal, this area as well,” he said.
He also said local farmers will benefit by selling produce to the hotel.
“This will bring economic benefits to the community and to individual households,” he said.
The Premier said the project should be sustainable and benefit future generations.
“It needs support from everyone in all sectors and communities to succeed,” he said.
He added that government support will continue in the future for the project.
The Premier said the people of Guadalcanal hope the project will last long and help communities grow across the province.
He said the project can become a model for other tourism investments in Solomon Islands if it succeeds.
He called on leaders, landowners, and communities to work together to protect and support the investment.
The Premier said strong cooperation is needed for the resort to succeed and bring long term benefits.
He said the Turtle Bay International Resort represents hope, growth, and shared prosperity for Guadalcanal people and future generations.
