MCILI and YECSI Sign MoU to Strengthen E Commerce and Digital Trade in Solomon Islands
The Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) and the Young Entrepreneurs Council Solomon Islands (YECSI) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance e commerce and digital trade development across the country.
The signing marks a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between government and youth led enterprise, reflecting a shared commitment to building a more inclusive, innovative, and digitally enabled economy.
Under the new Partnership Framework, MCILI and YECSI will work together to implement key activities aimed at accelerating digital adoption among young entrepreneurs and MSMEs.
These include:
• Digital skills training for young entrepreneurs
• E commerce adoption support for MSMEs
• Awareness programs on digital trade opportunities
• Youth innovation and startup support in the digital space
The MOU aligns with ongoing national efforts to implement the National E Commerce Strategy, positioning young entrepreneurs as central drivers of digital transformation and future economic growth.
Both MCILI and YECSI highlighted the critical role that young entrepreneurs and MSMEs play in shaping the future of trade in Solomon Islands. The partnership aims to ensure that youth led businesses are equipped with the skills, tools, and opportunities needed to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
Following the signing, MCILI and YECSI will jointly develop and roll out initiatives under the MoU. Priority activities will be coordinated with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and measurable impact across the private sector.
