Jennie Tagini Showcases Solomon’s Art

AMONG the Solomon Islands talented artists who is now at 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture 2024 in Hawaii, United Sates of America is our local talented artist, Jennie Tagini.

In an interview with SOLOMON WOMEN, Jennie expressed her joy at being able to participate at the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture 2024 (FESTPAC 24) in Hawaii as an artist.

The young female artist praised the Arts Festival as a significant platform for showcasing and promoting Solomon Islands’ indigenous arts and crafts to the Pacific and global community.

“The Arts festival is a best platform to expose and showcase Solomon Islands diverse cultural expressions from traditional to modern art forms,” she said.

An eighty-five-member delegation of arts and cultural practitioners have represented Solomon Islands at the upcoming 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC) in Hawaii, United States of America this month. This delegation included performing artists, visual artists, contemporary and modern music bands, weavers, carvers, culinary artists and officials.

As one of the attendees of this prestigious cultural gathering, Jennie stated that her objective is to use her artwork to highlight the uniqueness and culture of the Solomon Islands. During this festival, Jennie is showcasing the significance of the Solomon Islands’ traditional shell money to the country.

“I am proud to promote the Solomon Islands shell money which holds the significant cultural and historical importance to the people of Solomon Islands,” Jennie said.

She added that there was a chance to display Solomon Islands art on a global scale thanks to the festival.

“This opportunity gives local artists like us the opportunity to showcase our work on an international stage promoting cultural exchange which is a beautiful way to celebrate the diversity and creativity,” the young artist said.

Jennie said she is grateful to those who selected her to join the Solomon Islands team at 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture 2024 in Hawaii.

The 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture (FestPAC), which took place from June 6–16, 2024, in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, The announcement from the FestPAC Hawaiʻi Commission and The Pacific Community (SPC), the custodian of FestPAC, follows two postponements of the festival due to Pacific-wide health, economic, and security concerns stemming from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
