Miss Pacific Pageant Highlights Solomon Islands as Tourism Hub

THE 2025 Miss Pacific Island Pageant is set to be much more than a competition for beauty and talent—it’s a dynamic platform for tourism marketing, designed to shine a spotlight on the cultural richness and natural beauty of the Solomon Islands and its neighboring Pacific nations.
At the first press conference held last Friday at Heritage Park Hotel, the pageant’s Director, Ms. Joyce Konofilia, emphasized the event’s significant role in tourism promotion.
“This is not just a pageant; it’s a chance to showcase what each of our islands has to offer to the world.
“We hope that the tourism sector can take full advantage of this opportunity to attract visitors to our shores,” she explained.
The pageant will feature contestants from various Pacific Island nations, each bringing their own unique traditions, music, dances, and crafts to the stage. The participants will not only be competing for the coveted title but will also share their cultures with the audience, creating a celebration of the Pacific’s vibrant diversity.
Ms. Konofilia believes that showcasing these aspects will draw international attention, positioning the Pacific Islands as top destinations for tourists seeking adventure, culture, and natural beauty.
In particular, the event is an opportunity to highlight Honiara as a key tourism hub within the Solomon Islands.
“Honiara is a fantastic location to promote the Solomon Islands as a tourism destination.
“From our cultural heritage to our pristine beaches and lush forests, there’s so much to show the world,” Ms. Konofilia said.
As part of the event, visitors to the pageant will have the chance to explore traditional Pacific Island art, crafts, and attire. For example, the Cook Islands will present their unique tag dresses and offer visitors the chance to purchase these beautiful items, supporting the local economy.
Ms. Konofilia explained, “This is also about promoting our local economy. Tourists will not only enjoy the pageant but will also contribute to the local business community through their purchases and experiences.”
